Almost two years ago Andrew and I found out his brother and wife were expecting twins and in January 2015 we became aunt and uncle to Tyler and Aaron Schwaebler. Watching Andrew play with them has been a fun experience and reminds us we need to practice more on other peoples kids before we officially bring our own into the mix!
Easter Sunday my older sister called us and told us she and her husband David were expecting. They have been trying for awhile and have wanted children since they got married. Because of my current thoughts about Andrew and I having children there was a joke in our family that we were going to end up having children before Lindsay or Megan. When she called to let us know she was still trying to figure out how to tell my parents and being the pranksters Andrew and I are we offered to announce that we were pregnant and see our families reaction and then officially let them know that Lindsay and David were the real future parents. So after we moved and got a little settled down we planned a day to let them know.
Rewind to Easter and this was right around when we were closing on our house so Andrew and I capitalized on this being in our favor and told my parents we really bought the house because we were pregnant and needed to plant some roots for when the child was born. We made shirts that said Mom and Dad on the front and Aunt and Uncle on the back.
When the time was right we announced and my parents reaction was PRICELESS. My mom's jaw dropped. After leading them on a little bit with throwing in we were expecting twins and showing them sonograms we finally announced it was really Lindsay and David. What amazed Andrew and I were the two different reactions... and we're not sure if it's a good or bad thing. As soon as my mom knew it was not really a joke they were ecstatic and plans are already being made to welcome Baby Hale in November of this year out in California.
